Shri Paramhans Parivrajakacharya Vasudevanand Saraswati (Tembe) Swami Maharaj was on his way from Pandharpur from Wadi. At a place called Kamalapur a tall man with hands almost reaching the knees appeared in the dream and asked him why he was not paying attention to him. He also told that Tembe Maharaj travel all over and composes poetry. Maharaj suddenly woke up from his dream enquired with the Lord about the person who came in the dream. The Lord said that it was Swami of Akkalkot and he wants Maharaj to write the life of Swamiji in verse.
Miracles, Normal Ways of Functioning
Tembe Maharaj told that his pen is dedicated to Lord Dattatreya and if enough information is available he is ready to write. Lord Dattatreya asked Tembe Maharaj to visit Akkalkot on his way to Pandharpur. He visited Swamiji at Akkalkot and wrote about Swamiji. The miracles performed by Swamiji are miracle only to the devotee. For Swamiji it is the normal ways of functioning. This is the case with all God realised sages. Swamiji never used to talk big about his miracle performances and this is so common with all God realised Souls. There are people who think that they are smarter than this noble soul and often tried testing Swamiji’s powers.
Once a Muslim Risaldar wanted to test Swamiji and offered him a earthen smoking pipe without tobacco in it and asked him to smoke. Swamiji knew what was happening and lighted the pipe and started smoking as if nothing has happened. The smoke started coming out like the normal pipe with tobacco and Swamiji smoked happily. The Muslim Risaldar realised the mistake and understood that he was a superior spiritual person and apologised for the whole episode. The Risaldar later made arrangements for Swamiji to stay in the house of Cholappa where Swamiji stayed till his last.
Many Devotees
Swamiji with this miracle became famous and well known and the news spread all around. Many devotees started coming to take the blessings of Swamiji. It was quite interesting that many of the common people did not understand many of the gestures and mystical statements of Swamiji. Many of the statements Swamiji made were mysterious and the meanings were clear to the common man only later in life. Only when some incident happen they used to connect with what Swamiji said and realised the greatness of Swamiji. Whatever Swamiji said had in-depth meaning and one had to be intelligent to understand it.
