Jaggi Vasudev known as ‘ Sadguru’ to all his devotees all over the world seems to be the answer for the present times. He has been able to influence people and help people to look within through various ways the most popular being his sessions with celebrities of India and other countries.

Jaggi Vasudev was born on 3rd September 1957 in Mysore, Karnataka. He was named Jagadish Vasudev. He was the youngest in the family of four. His father was an ophthalmologist with Indian Railways and his mother was housewife. He had one brother and two sisters. After his schooling in Mysore he took a degree in English. His parents wanted him to do post-graduation but he was not interested in studying in the system and started a business. From the age of thirteen he began to practise yoga and his teacher was Malladihalli Raghavendra. No spiritual aspirations were attached to this practise but he did it daily. On September 23rd1982, when he was 25, Jaggi went to Chamundi Hills and while seated on a rock he is said to have had a spiritual experience which changed his life forever. Six weeks later he left his business and began to travel to validate his spiritual experience. After a year he began to teach Yoga and guided his students into the inner experience as well. These classes became popular and he began travelling on his bike and took classes in different places. What he received as fee was given away in charity. Jaggi married Vijaya Kumari and has a daughter Radhe. They were married for over twelve years when she left her body on 23rd December 1997.
Philosophy Propounded
Inner engineering through yoga is the philosophy that he practises. His philosophy has blossomed in to an organisation called the Isha Yoga Foundation.
Work Done to Spread the Philosophy
Jaggi’s work has made inroads into many aspects of the society. Society is made up of individuals so he believed that individuals had to be tuned up correctly. For this he conducts various yoga classes and courses in ‘Inner Engineering’. For the society he has taken up educational, social, environmental initiatives. The Rally for Rivers a massive project of planting trees alongside the river banks was started in 2017. He has taken great efforts to popularise rural games. The main ashram is located at the foothills of Vellingiri Mountains in Coimbaore. The star attraction of this ashram is the Dhyanalingam and Adi Yogi which is a massive statue of Lord Shiva. When a mystic guru works for the society, what he does is far-reaching and Jaggi Vasudev has proved this.
