No definite account of MahavatarBabaji’s birth and life is available for anyone. Whatever is available is based on some presumptions that it was said by MahavatarBabaji. He was born to a Brahmin couple in Parangipettai, Tamilnadu. He was named Nagarajan. The date cannot be said as he is believed to have seen Jesus Christ, Kabir Das and many spiritual giants. It is understood that Babaji said he was born on November 30th, 203 CE. One can understand how old Babaji is considering the fact that he is still seen today. Most see him in his youthful body. He is believed to have left home when he was fifteen along with a group of sanyasis. He moved to different places and learnt all the scriptures like Ramayana, Mahabharata, Vedas, Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita and more. He is believed to have travelled to Sri Lanka and became the disciple of SidhhaBhogarnathar. MahavatarBabaji was introduced to Kriya Yoga from this Siddhar. From Sri Lanka in the south he travelled to the faraway place in north,Badrinath and practised Kriya Yoga. As already mentioned it is believed that MahavatarBabaji is not dead. Many yogis of modern day say that it is possible for these kinds of Avatars to remain in their subtle form and recreate their body as and when needed.
Philosophy Propounded
Kriya Yoga was what MahavatarBabaji gave the world. It is said that he will remain on this earth through ages till all human beings understand their divine nature.
Work Done to Spread the Philosophy
MahavatarBabaji did not move around to preach Kriya Yoga but he initiated it to LahiriMahasaya who passed it to Sri YukteshwarGiri. In this lineage came ParamahamsaYogananda into whom all the three gurus showered their blessings and it was ParamahamsaYogananda who took the Kriya Yoga of Babaji right across the world.
