Sant Morari Bapu was a child prodigy from a large Gujarati family. He was born to Savitri Ben Hariyani and Prabhudas Bapu Hariyani, on September 25th, 1946 in a village named Talgajarda in Mahuva, in Gujarat state. He had two sisters and six brothers. A Hindu Vaishnava tradtion called Nimbarka Sampradaya was followed by his family.

At a tender age of five, he learnt Ramayana (the great Hindu epic) from Tribhovandas Hariyani, his grandfather as hisĀ guru and spiritual teacher, He mastered the complete Ramacharit Manas by the age of 12 years and could recite it by heart. While travelling to Mahuva to his primary and secondary schools, he learnt the chaupais (couplets) by heart. He worked in Junagadh at the Shapur Teachers Training College and later in 1996 he worked in Mahuva at a primary school. He started reciting the Ramacharit Manas in before small groups of rural people, with the knowledge he gained.

For a small part of his life he worked as a teacher but his soul and heart were dedicated to the divine epic which he always recited before various gatherings. Gradually he became well known in other parts of India and abroad as well.

He staged the Ramayana recitals in the Himalayas at Manasarovar and in various other nations. He gained popularity for his social reforms and philanthropy. He gave discourses in Hindi and Gujarati in India, United Kingdom, United States, Uganda, Kenya, South Africa and other nations. Sant Morari Bapu followed Hindu asceticism but is not an ascetic. He retained the 300 year old copy of the Ramayana gifted to him by his grandfather. Every Saturday, he religiously followed a vow of silence.
