Shri Swami Samarth was a great sage who was very particular about the moral behaviour of a person and did not tolerate anything immoral from one’s side. In Mohol there was a government official called Ganesh Sohoni and he invited Swamiji to his house for discourse during the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. Swamiji suddenly walked out in the midnight braving the rains. Sohoni followed Swamiji and begged him to return but Swamiji refused to return saying that his house was unclean and walked away to the forest. Sohoni followed him for quite a distance but Swamiji refused to return. Sohoni felt hopelss and asked Swamiji when he would be able to meet Swamiji again.Swamiji replied that he will meet again during the mango season and walked away.
Never Disobey the Guru
The reason of Swamiji leaving Sohoni’s house was because he had kept a mistress in the house. Sohoni did not get rid of her but later the districtcollector heard about the mistress and told Sohoni to get rid of the lady. Sohoni refused to listen to the collector and was later prosecuted. He was let go by the court but lost the job and went and lived in Solapur. In the mango season Swamiji appeared again and gave Sohoni two mangoes and vanished from there. Sohoni got an equally good job in Baroda after he gave up the mistress. The moral of story is that one should take the Guru’s instructions seriously and disobeying can be disastrous.
In Mohol there was a yogi by the name Gaveswami. Gaveswami had reached the highest yogic level. He had practised yoga for more than 125 years and lived in isolation and solitude. He was a pure soul and love was reflecting from him. The entire nature of this yogi was purified and the only one thing which was stopping him from liberation and freedom was the blessings of true Guru. Swamiji went to him and met him. Swamiji saw the advanced state of the yogi and sent him in the highest Samadhi state and liberated him.
Mind Reader
In Solapur Swamiji stayed in the Shri Dattatreya temple. In the temple Swamiji used to sit in the bliss of Brahman. Swamiji’s only activity used to be playing with marbles and throwing them here and there. The devotees who used to come to the temple used to ignore Swamiji thinking that he was a mad man. One day Chintopant Tol noticed Swamiji and thought that he must be a Siddha. Swamiji said lodly “What business is it of yours whether I am a Siddha or not?” Chintopant realised that Swamiji was a mind reader and immediately Swamiji commented “What does it matter whether I am a mind reader or not?” Chintopant was sure that this person was not a madman but a Siddha. Chintopant was surprised and went near Swamiji and fell on his feet and invited Him to his house and Swamiji obliged.
