Shri Swami Samarth, one of the greatest spiritual leader and saint lived in India in the 19th century. Swamiji was emphathetic and compassionate towards every living creatures and human beings and never tolerated deceit, double standards or immortality. Nobody could take Swamiji for granted and nobody could hide anything fromSwamiji because he was omniscient. Anybody who was found dishonest will be abused by Swamiji using even vulgar language. Swamiji used to be nasty towards such people but once they repented and regretted what they have done or said is wrong, Swamiji would go out of the way to help them and accomplish their desires.
Spiritual Gains and Materialistic Difficulties
Among the visitors for Swamiji very few came for spiritual gains. Most of the devotees who visited Swamiji came for relief from materialistic difficulties. People came to Swamiji for reasons like increase in their wealth, some wanted a son and some wanted relief from different kinds of illnesses. There were many to show off their knowledge and some were there to criticise Swamiji for his eccentric activities. Swamiji gave fitting replies to all the people who visited Him. Many of the so called pundits were humbled by Swamiji but at the end of the day received His blessings and grace.
There were many devotees who used to visit Swamiji for gaining eyesight. Swamiji told each one of them different medicines like cat’s milk, horse urine, elephant urine etc. but the fact was that everyone were cured. This did not have anything to do with the medicine Swamiji prescribed, but it was the power of this Great Sage. This was not any magic and there are no medical explanations for these treatments. Swamiji was much above all this and he was God himself in the form a human being. People came to Swamiji for many other problems like leprosy, abdominal pain, leucoderma and many other sufferings.
Prescription and Tasks
The prescriptions and task given to these people were strange and Swamiji used to ask them to carry out these tasks and medicines with devotion to get cured. There are instances where Swamiji diverted death and revived even dead persons against the rule of nature. Such was the power of this great saint who appeared in this world only to help the common man. The devotees who have earned the blessings and help of this great saint are the luckiest ones in the world. Swamiji even after his Mahasamadhi have showered his blessing on his devotees.
