Shri Swami Samarth was a great spiritual Guru of the 19th century and his teachings have been a great boon for the seekers. Swamiji was not craving for any Siddhi. When a person advances in the spiritual journey they are bound to get some extraordinary powers which are called siddhis. Swamiji believed that a true spiritual contender will never go after the siddhis and it is not their goal to go after these powers. There are eight principle siddhis and the siddhis divert the attention of the spiritual seeker from their final goal. Siddhis are attractive and exciting but they have the power to divert one’s attention from the main goal.
Attaining Spiritual Goal
A person whose main aim is to attain the spiritual goal should shun the siddhis because whoever is attracted towards the siddhi will not be able to progress towards the eventual goal of eternal bliss. Swamiji had total control over the siddhis he acquired and all of these siddhis were at the command of Swamiji. The siddhis were always ready to listen and obey the order of their own creator. Swamiji also instructed his devotees not to get fascinated in musical powers. Swamiji with his power unchained many of His devotees from the appealing bonds of the siddhis and escorted them to the heavenly doors of ever blooming bliss.
Shri Swami Samarth was a great philosopher and teacher and many of his messages and the language which he used was quite mysterious. But all his messages and language were full of practical as spiritual wisdom. Swamiji had rustic and sharp style of communicating and this was appealing to the masses. Swamiji had a celestial and radiant personality, both in behaviour and physically. The common man could easily relate to what he was communicating and they could grasp the importance of the speech easily. Swamiji never liked and encouraged intellectual debate on Veda and the Vedantic philosophy. Swamiji was never interested in giving scholastic discourses.
Feeling the Infinite Knowledge
There were lots of contemporary scholars who visited Swamiji and Shankaracharya also visited him. Most of them visited him to feel the infinite knowledge he had. Swamiji was the home of Vedas and scriptures and one could feel the vibrations when dived deep into Swamji leelas. All the visitors were quite surprised and astonished by his deep and infinite knowledge. There were many followers who were blessed with the intellectual explanations of Vedantic philosophy by Swamiji and they experienced the rarest and most difficult to achieve spiritual heights called Brahma Tadakar Vrutti, just by Swamiji’s simple glance.
