Shri Swami Samarth after getting up from the anthill moved from the northern side of Bhagirathi River. He advanced towards Gangotri in Uttar Pradesh (now in Uttarakhand). He came to place called Devalgram where he installed the Padukas and left the place. From Devalgram came to Rajur in Maharashtra and installed a Mutt there. The king of Rajur gave an estate as a gift to the Mutt. Swamiji later left Rajur leaving the Mutt and travelled to holy places like Udupi in Karnataka and Pandharpur in Maharashtra. He later came to Mangalvedha in Maharashtra and appeared in the public during the year 1838.
Miracles to Teach a Lesson
Once Swamiji reached Kutch in Gujarat and there is temple called Trivikram there. Near the temple is the Narayan Teerth (Lake). The temple chief never used to allow pilgrims to take bath in the lake without paying. He used to collect fees from the devotees for taking bath in the lake. Swamiji came to the lake to take bath and the assistants of the chief stopped him from taking bath because he had not paid the fees. Swamiji, to everybody’s surprise disappeared from the scene and was seen next sitting on the surface of the water.
The people around were bewildered and the Chief hearing this came running to the lake shore. He prayed to Swamiji for forgiveness and to everyone’s surprise Swamiji walked and came to the bank of the lake. The chief prostrated at the lotus feet of Swamiji and prayed in full devotion. All the Brahmins there were fed with sweet dishes to the satisfaction of all.
Help for the Needy
Swamiji when he was in a place called Hanumandhari, there was one crippled ascetic who after hearing the greatness of Swamiji wanted to have a Darshan of the great soul. Since he was crippled he could not go near Swamiji and he started praying to Swamiji with all intensity and solemnity. Swamiji being the great soul he was, heard the prayers of the crippled devotee and came in front of the person. Swami told the crippled person to close his eyes and walk towards him without looking back. He obeyed the orders of Swamiji and tried taking a step forward. He suddenly regained his legs and started walking to the surpise of the crippled person and all others present there. He walked slowly and reached near Swamiji and he prostrated on the lotus feet of Swamiji. The man took the blessings of Swamiji and went for a pilgrimage.
