Shri Swami Samarth used to hold philosophical discussions with ascetics while he was in the Himalayas. He used to conduct these discussions in the cave where he used to sit. When the discussions were on inside the cave there used to be two tigers sitting at the entrance of the cave listening to the discussions. Swamiji used to charm all the ascetics who were present for the talks. Swamiji’s look once fell on the two tigers sitting at the entrance and he spoke to the tigers. He asked them why they are sitting at the entrance. He asked them to ride on an elephant and go on obtaining certificates of victory.
For the Animals also
The tigers were happy with the darshan of Swamiji and said that they were blessed by the darshan. They wanted to know why they got the life of tigers. Swamiji explained that in their past life they had amassed knowledge through learning but was arrogant and often harassed saints and Brahmins. They even managed to get victory letters by defeating these saints and Brahmins. Because of the arrogant actions they were given the life of a tiger. The tigers lay down on the grounds and pleaded at Swamiji. Swamiji said that in the life of tiger there is no change but also said that they will be born as Brahmins in the next life and by gaining knowledge and doing devotional service will get liberated.
In Haridwar, there were two Brahmins who were very strong. The arrogance had got into their head and they started doing evil deeds like killing people after robbing them and insulting saints. They found pleasure in such activities and nobody could stop them from these evil activities. Because of these activities they contracted leprosy. It reached a stage that their fingers and feet started rotting. Their families got rid of them and they did not have any other option but to beg. They also started repenting for the evil acts they did.
Blessings
Since they did some good activities in their past life there was still some good merit left from their past life. That is how they got a chance to have a darshan of Swamiji. The moment they got the chance they surrendered to Swamiji and begged for pardon for their evil actions. Swamiji met them and showered his blessing on them because of their past life. Swamiji touched their bodies with his lotus feet and immediately the pain they suffered came down. Swamiji asked them to discard their arrogance, ego, self-conceit and spend the rest of their life constantly chanting his name. Swamiji blessed the Brahmins and they regained good health and happiness.
