Shri Swami Samarth never liked the conventional preaching and never wanted his disciples also to teach and lean through the traditional way. Many disciples of Swamiji were not from the upper class which is Brahmins. Swamiji always believed that one need not have to belong to a particular caste or community to become his disciple. As long as the disciple’s mind if filled with devotion towards Him Swamiji was willing to erase all his earlier life history. The basic need Swamiji wants from a devotee is to reach and attain Him and once the devotee attains Him there is no difference of caste and gender.

The Kind Saint

Swamiji was kind to trees and other unmovable things in the world. He sees Brahman in everything and conversing with the trees etc is a sign of a person who sees Brahman in everything. Swamiji used to have personal contact with the trees and stones. He used to caress the trees and stones and often them what they wanted. Swamiji always used to have thousands of devotees as visitors everyday. Swamiji had this capacity to read other’s thought and he used to answer their questions even before it was asked. Swamiji used to converse with his devotees in Hindi and Marathi and his assistants used to be there as interpreter.

People from all religions visited the Swamiji seeking help and advice. Swamiji had many Muslim devotees and used to visit the Dargas and Pirs and stay there for long time. There are many devotees who had personal experiences of the power of Swamiji even after centuries later. Swamiji advised his devotees not to have any doubt in their devotion. According to Swamiji, God is always hungry for the love and devotion from the devotee. Swamiji never liked lazy people and was very clear that his devotees should not even look at the face of a lazy person. Swamiji was of the opinion that everybody should work hard and earn their living and God helps only those who keep on trying.

Worship a Guru

There are some duties assigned for everyone and each one should do their duties and remember Swamiji. It is better to worship a Guru than worshipping stone idols. You have to keepyour heart pure before boasting about one’s learning. Swamiji thought that one can attain freedom by doing actions without desire for fruits. One has to be clean inside in the mind before observing outward cleanliness. Ask your Guru what question whcih comes to your mind and execute whatever work is given by him, irrespective of the size of the work.
