Shri Swami Samarth- Unique Way fo Teaching
Shri Swami Samarth being a great sanyasi had his own way of teaching a lesson to everyone who deserves it. Swamiji was not bothered about material benefits and luxury. Once Swamiji was lying down in a cushion and a puranik happened to see and he made some remarks like why saints need luxuries like cushions. Swamiji did not answer the puranik and after one month Swamiji took the puranik for a walk to the village nearby. In the evening Swamiji climbed a hill and the puranik followed him. After sometime the puranik suggested that they go back butSwamiji was not ready to listen to these suggestions.
Cushion and Stone
Swamiji kept climbing the hill and on top of the hill he spread a cloth on a stone and relaxed. The puranik did not have any warm clothes and was worried that it was dark and it was cold up there. The puranik could not tolerate the cold weather and started praying to Swamiji. Swamiji asked the puranik how the soft cushion was and he remembered what had happened a month ago. By this action Swamiji was indirectly telling the puranik that for a yogi cushion and cold stone are all the same. The puranik begged for Swamiji forgiveness. Swamiji even though was offered all luxuries by his devotees never had the attitude or liking towards the luxuries.
Swamiji could guage a person form the first look itself and he could also tell what they were thinking. Once, a man in the costume of a follower of Kabirpanth came to Akkalkot. He was going around the town singing bhajans with a veena in hand. The people on the street were bowing to the saint. Swamiji saw this man and when he was passing by he was singing the song loudly and showing an offensive sign to Swamiji and he was laughing loudly at Swamiji. The people realised that this saint was bogus person. They followed the person and found out that he was a bogus one and was living with a married woman who had fled with him. The fake saint left the town without any delay.
Ego
Swamiji never liked people behaving in a egoistic manner. Once Shankaracharya of the Sankeshwar Mutt came to Akkalkot and King Malojiraje arranged to welcome him. Everyone was invited and a high throne was arranged for the Shankaracharya. Swamiji was not invited but he came to the ceremony with Cholappa. Swamiji was not even offered a seat but one person offered Swamiji a seat for the lunch. There was a ruckus because Swamiji was offered a seat with the Brahmins. Suddenly there were worms in the food served and Shankarcharya knew the reason and begged pardon to Swamiji. Swamiji was very angry and told Shankaracharya that his assistants following him were born to Muslim mothers. They prostrated in front of Swamiji and the food became normal.
