Sri Sathya Sai Baba was born on November 23, 1926 in a remote village called Puttaparthi, in Anantapure District in Andhra Pradesh, in the south of India. He is an Indian philanthropist and Guru. He is also called the Guru and Brahmajnani. His full name is Sathyanarayana Raju. His parents were Peddavenkama Raju Ratnakaram and Easwaramma.
He performed numerous miracles when he was young and made his followers believe that he was an incarnation of God. A scorpion once bit him and he underwent a miraculous transformation at the age of thirteen. After this incident happened, within a span of 60 days, he declared himself as Shirdi Saibaba’s incarnation.
Sri Sathya Sai Baba began displaying his colossal spiritual powers. Within no time, his name and fame started spreading and people began visiting him. Puttaparthi which was otherwise a village in a remote area now became famous due to Sri Sathya Baba.
As of date, one of saints who has a huge following of devotees across the globe, is indeed Sri Sathya Baba. Be it business tycoons, politicians, scholars, actors, singers, artists and people from all walks of life are Sri Sathya Baba’s devotees. He is known well for his strong emphasis on unconditional equality and love for all religions and the miracles he performs. However the saint is completely not free from public disagreements. Some of Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s critics find crevices and faults in his personality, while at the same time there are millions of devotees who believe that he is an incarnation of God.
Sri Sathya Sai Baba died in Puttaparthi on April 24th, 2011. Sri Sathya Sai Baba founded the Sathya Sai Organization which enables its members to take up services activities that lead towards the path of spiritual advancement. There are around 1200 branches of the Sathya Sai Organization in 126 countries.
