The color blue represents all-encompassing consciousness. It is observed that anything that is vast and beyond human perception is often portrayed as blue, such as the ocean or the sky. Blue is the foundation of inclusiveness, which is why many gods in India are depicted as having blue skin. It is believed that Shiva, Krishna, and Rama were not born with blue skin, but were referred to as “blue gods” due to their blue aura.

What is Aura?

An aura is an energy field that surrounds all matter. Science has established that the entire universe is made up of energy. Part of this energy has taken on a physical form, while another part remains formless and non-physical, yet still exists. This non-physical form that surrounds living beings and objects is known as the aura.

It is possible that Krishna’s blue complexion did not refer to his actual skin color, but rather to the blueness of his aura or energy field. Perhaps he had a dark skin tone, but those who were perceptive enough could sense the blue hue of his energy and thus described him as “blue-bodied.” While there may be disagreements about Krishna’s identity and nature, his all-encompassing consciousness is a quality that is universally recognized. Therefore, the association with the color blue has become a common theme, and throughout the country, Krishna is commonly depicted with a blue complexion.

Irresistible Blue

According to some beliefs, the blueness of Krishna’s aura made him incredibly attractive, rather than his physical features such as his nose or eyes. While many individuals may have pleasing physical characteristics, they may not necessarily possess the same level of irresistible appeal. The blueness of one’s aura is thought to play a significant role in their level of attraction, as it signifies a deep level of consciousness and inclusiveness that can draw others towards them.

Krishna’s all-encompassing nature, symbolized by the blueness of his aura, was so powerful that even his most bitter enemies were drawn to him and ultimately surrendered to him. He had a remarkable ability to win over people who had previously abused and conspired against him, effortlessly changing their hearts and minds. While there were many other aspects to his character, this blue aura was a constant and potent force that aided him in all of his endeavors. His allure was so strong that even Poothana, an assassin who had been sent to kill him when he was just a baby, fell under his spell. Though she spent only a few minutes with him, she was completely captivated by his blue magic.

Electrifying Blue

Another perspective on the significance of aura colors is related to one’s spiritual evolution. Depending on one’s level of practice and focus, the aura can take on different hues. For example, those who prioritize the agna (the center of intuition and command) in their spiritual practice will often have an orange aura, representing renunciation, austerity, and kriya (action). Someone with a pure white aura is seen as a pure being, though perhaps not as action-oriented. When someone has reached their highest potential and chooses to remain active in the world, their aura will typically be electric blue. This type of aura enables them to function in the world in a seemingly superhuman way.

Rather than portraying Krishna with blue paint, the depiction of his blue skin arose from the perception of those who were spiritually aware. They saw the blueness of his aura and described him as blue-skinned, while those who were not as perceptive saw only his physical appearance. However, the most important aspect of Krishna’s life is not the factual details, but the truth that can be gleaned from his story and teachings. This truth has the potential to make a significant difference in our own lives.
